💬 The name Geometridae comes from Greek: geo = earth and metron = measure. Because the caterpillars look like they’re measuring the ground inch by inch when they move.

Inchworm, Looper, Measuring Worm, Span worm, Cankerworm, Twig Caterpillar.

Length: ~1.5 – 3 cm

Weight: 0.1 – 0.3 g

Height: ~2 – 4 mm

Coloration:

Bright leaf-green, smooth and slender, sometimes with a faint thin white side line

Life Span

2 – 4 weeks (only caterpillar stage)
